PTO Committees and Volunteer Needs

Events:

Harvest Moon Festival: All-school family fun night in mid-October.  Many volunteers are needed before and during the evening of the event to help plan, set-up, sell tickets, run games, help with food and clean up afterwards.  CHAIRS:  Desi Olson 

Scholastic Book Fair:  Book fair set up over several days in the Northside school library. This event provides Northside with a return of  50% or more in Scholastic book credits for every dollar spent to ultimately benefit our school library, classrooms, book room, and Read-On program.  Volunteers are needed to prep materials, set-up, and help at the book fair and clean up.  Event is in November and Spring.  CHAIRS:  Jennifer Maron, Lynne Kramer, Lisa Froelich

Game Night:  Fun family gathering in November and Spring.  Help is needed with snacks and prizes.  CHAIR: Heather Kramer

Breakfast with Buddies: Help serve breakfast/coffee before school for students and a special family member.  March CHAIRS:  Jamie GepnerTiz Goff

Share Fair: An annual event, in Spring, where students prepare an exhibit to showcase a personal interest. CHAIR: Jennifer Kline

On-going:

Wellness:  Promotes various forms of health and fitness for our students and staff. Help coordinate events throughout the school year. Key events include Run.Walk.Move – a fun run for students at Northside and Dolphin Dash – a weekly running event at school.  CHAIR:  Jessica Anderson, Jennifer Kline, Jen Mroch

Art in the Classroom:  Volunteers are provided materials to share a pre-selected work of art and facilitate a related art project in the classroom.  No art background is required.  Sign up with your child’s classroom teacher.  CHAIR:  Catherine LaCrosse

Staff Appreciation:  Volunteers help with monthly activities to show appreciation for Northside Staff.  Events include luncheons and Staff Appreciation Week.  CHAIRS:  Flavia Gibson, Patti Madden

Yearbook:  Volunteers needed to take pictures at various event throughout the school year, and with distribution and administrative duties.  CHAIR:  Xenia Sundell

Trash to Treasure:  Box Tops collection for supplemental school income. Help is needed to prepare Box Tops, cell phones, printer cartridges, etc. for quarterly redemption.  CHAIR:  Mindy Jones

Farm to School Taste Test:  Volunteers are needed to help distribute farm fresh foods during lunches – one Friday per month during lunch. Click here to download a recipe for Apple, Poppy Seed, Yogurt & Honey Coleslaw. CHAIR:  Sarah Schumacher

Read-on Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to help oversee distribution of books earned by students once a month during lunch. CHAIR: Marianne Kenny

Cultural Arts:  Assist in scheduling cultural arts events for each grade and entire school.  CHAIR:  Michelle Burcin, Courtney Hall

Services:

Square One Art:  Students prepare art that can be reproduced onto gift items like cards, mugs, bags, etc.  Help is needed for administrative details and distribution.  CHAIR:  Lynne Kramer

Calculators/School Supply Kits:    Administrative and distribution help needed.  School Kits at August Registration day.  Calculators in fall.  CHAIR:  Jen Mroch

Information/Picture Day:  Volunteers are needed to help with school photos, distribution school kits and at informational tables. CHAIR:  Jill Rauwerdink

Spiritwear:  Communicate with online vendor and distribute monthly order through classroom teachers.  CHAIR:  Desi Olson

Social Media: Communicate Northside events via Facebook or other digital media. CHAIR: Kathey Bilek ***SEEKING CO-CHAIR IN 2017-18***
